Microsoft has announced that its Surface Pro tablet will launch on 9 February in the US and Canada.
The new tablet will come in 64GB and 128GB models priced at $899 and $999 but there is no official news yet about when it will be available in other countries or how much it will cost outside of the USA and Canada.
The Surface Pro comes with an Intel Ivy Bridge processor, Full HD display and a stylus pen.
Microsoft said: “Work like never before on Surface Windows 8 Pro. Take the power and performance of a laptop and carry it around wherever you go. Perfect as your one device – in the office, on the road, or at home – it can run Windows 8 applications, as well as current Windows 7 desktop applications.”
Panos Panay, general manager of Microsoft’s Surface division, said: “Whether you’re a road warrior, a student or someone who just wants a flexible and powerful Intel PC, the Surface Windows 8 Pro will deliver.
“It’s the perfect complement to the Surface Windows RT and delivers hours and hours of entertainment with plenty of power and productivity to get your work done as well.”
